American singer, songwriter, and actress Lady Gaga is back in the music scenes in the last quarter of 2016. She released her fifth album 'Joanne' on October 21, 2016 and garnered almost 170, 000 sold copies during the first week. Dating back from 2010 to 2016 she was the first female singer who achieved top one four times in terms of US music albums. Despite the success of her career through the years and even being on top on everything she do she revealed that she was diagnosed with a stress disorder.
According to USA Today, using an open letter on her Born This Way Foundation website the pop star wrote that she is suffering from PTSD or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. She admitted that during the release of her current album it was a huge effort for her to regulate her nervous system so that she won't panic over situations that may seem a big deal for her but just a normal situation to others. She even cited an example for this situation when she starts to panic such as when she leaves the house or when people try to touch her or approach her to show their appreciation for her music.
Lady Gaga also wrote the pain she experienced with the signs and symptoms of the disorder. She added that it was so hard for her to perform every night while she is suffering from mental and emotional trauma. The good thing is her doctors explained to her the aspect of the disorder in order for her to understand what she is going through and be able to know the management and treatment. She cannot express her feelings well because the part of her brain that controls the logic is overridden by her emotional memory as a result sometimes her body and mind are not in the same harmony together. She ended the letter with her psychologist who gave the final word and elaborated on PTSD.
According to National Institute of Mental Health, the most studied medications for treating PTSD include antidepressants, which may help control PTSD symptoms such as sadness, worry, anger, and feeling numb inside. Antidepressants and other medications may be prescribed along with psychotherapy. Other medications may be helpful for specific PTSD symptoms. For example, although it is not currently FDA approved, research has shown that Prazosin may be helpful with sleep problems, particularly nightmares, commonly experienced by people with PTSD.
There is a big chance that Lady Gaga can battle out and conquer PTSD. Hoping that one day she can perform with full happiness as an entertainer with no emotional or any mental barriers. Meanwhile, Demi Lovato celebrated her first Grammy Nomination to get the details. Click here.
