Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead" is a story about zombies. The show has been giving the thrill and scare to the viewers. They never fail to create horror. Despite the countless zombie-movies and shows produced and released before they still attract viewers until today.
For seven years, "The Walking Dead" never mention the word "zombie" in all its scripts as per Screen Rant. Here is what the show creator has to say.
Robert Kirkman told Conan O' Brien that zombie myths are very popular. He added that he wants the Negan saga to be different from the usual.
Kirkman said, "No one inside The Walking Dead has seen a [George Romero] movie, so they can't get the rules from that." Zombie stories revolved around them being shot and they are gone. "It felt like having people not use that word would kind of separate it from that, make it a little bit clearer," he added.
Meanwhile, the show has declined in ratings after its season opener last October 23. It started with a huge 21.5 million viewers on its opening, its second biggest total.
But in the weeks that followed six episodes to be exact, the statistics plummeted to more than 5 million viewers. It might proceed to its lowest rating since 2013.
According to USA Today, some theorized that the scary downtrend of the rating is attributed to the natural tendency when shows age. Some of the well-loved characters have already died. One reason for the low rating is that many dislike Negan and the show has escalated into too much violence.
There are also other possible reasons that involve the networks that own them. "NFL" and "Empire", two shows that air on the same network with "The Walking Dead", are also suffering the same fate. However, as of this time, the problem has not been pinpointed yet.
Will the show bounce back? Hopefully,"Hearts Still Beating" will lift the show once again after its return. Stay tuned for more "The Walking Dead" and other celebrity news.
