Australian Bad Boy Nick Kyrgios is very positive about his return to ATP circuit this coming year. Australia's best hope for a Grand slam since Lleyton Hewitt, Krgios has taken his suspension as time to reflect on his goals and bond with his friends and family.
Tennis.Com reported that the tennis maverick was suspended by ATP last October for inciting conducts that are "contrary to the integrity" of the sport. In his second-round match between Mischa Zverev in Shanghai Masters, Kyrgios acted lazily in retrieving the ball. He executed his serves poorly and turns away from the ball being served even before it crosses the net.
Kyrgios didn't stop there. After being cautioned by the umpire about his unprofessional behavior, the crowd booed him. Nick responded angrily shouting to the crowd, "You want to come here and play?"
Few days after the incident, he released a statement saying that his Asian tour took a toll on him. His win in Tokyo on weekend before the Shanghai Masters made him both physically and mentally drained. He added that it was not an excuse for his bad behavior as he apologized to tennis fans in Shanghai and elsewhere.
The ban was supposed to end on January 15, a day before the start of the Australian Open. However, because Nick agreed to enter a program to seek professional advice, his suspension was reduced to three weeks.
Yahoo has reported that Nick took his time off the court to spend more time with the people he loves. It also gave him time to refocus on his goals and areas to improve- both in his game and attitude. He is optimistic that he can improve more and enter that top ten this coming year.
Nick is one of ATP's NextGen player that is expected to be on top of the leader board, says Jobs & Hire. He is currently ranked number 13 and if improvement is seen, it is not impossible for his to be number one in the future.
