Filipino fans are surely at it again as another pride of the Philippines takes the international screen. Jacob Batalon plays the very best friend of Spider-Man alter ego Peter Parker in the upcoming Marvel movie "Spider-Man: Homecoming."
A Filipino-American actor, Batalon was born and raised in Hawaii and went to New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts for two years before finally getting his big break in the entertainment industry. His first appearance was on "North Woods" where he played the role Cooper according to When In Manila. Jacob's Filipino side is also said to be dominant as he expresses close ties with his friends and family back in the Philippines.
Assuming his biggest break in Hollywood, Batalon plays the role of Ned Leeds, Peter's high school buddy and bff. He also became a reporter in Daily Bugle along with Parker (played by Tom Holland). Later on in the film, Needs is said to be assuming the role of a super villain Hobgoblin.
Movie News Guide reported how the 20 year old Fil-Am actor has been promoting the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" particularly in his high school alma mater Damien Memorial School in Honululu Hawaii. There he shared his character in the film as an innocent and sweet kid who has no experience and has been extremely close to Parker from their childhood years.
The "Spider-Man: Homecoming" trailer release also show the bond between Parker and Leeds including a scene in their high school cafeteria and the moment when the latter discovered his best friend is actually Spider-Man. Along with Tom Holland and Jacob Batalon, the movie also casts Michael Heaton, Donald Glover and Zendaya with of course the special participation of Robert Downey as Tony Stark aka. Iron Man.
