Jennifer Love Hewitt's fiancé Brian Hallisay is under criminal investigation after a paparazzo filed charges due to an alleged physical altercation, Daily Mail reported Monday.
LAPD Media Relations confirmed that a battery report was taken against Hallisay after he got involved in a scuffle with a photographer who was trying to take photos of his pregnant girlfriend in Brentwood, California, Friday Night.
The enraged paparazzo claimed that he was injured by the 34-year-old actor during the confrontation, leading to his decision of filing battery charges.
TMZ reported that Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brian Hallisay had just finished eating dinner at Toscana restaurant in Brentwood, California, when the paparazzo stubbornly began snapping photos of the pair as they were heading towards the exit of the establishment.
Hallisay reportedly asked the photographer a couple of times to stop taking pictures, but the shutterbug continued, which allegedly prompted 'The Client List' star to get involved in a physical altercation with the cameraman.
The unnamed paparazzo claimed in his report to the police that he got injured near his eye after the camera supposedly hit his face when Hallisay attacked him.
However, sources told TMZ that the photographer was not visibly injured when he arrived at the police station.
Meanwhile, Hewitt reportedly felt bad and apologized for the incident and even allowed the photographer to take a few more photos of her before she and Hallisay left.
But the paparazzo rushed to the police station to file battery charges minutes after..
E! News confirmed that there were no arrests made and the investigation on the scuffle is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old actress is expecting her first baby with Hallisay in December. The two of them got engaged in July after they found out that Jennifer was pregnant, but have decided to postpone their wedding until Hewitt gets back to her pre-pregnancy weight.
