The American multinational retail corporation Wal-Mart is selling Apple iPhones at huge discounts.
Gizmodo announced that Wal-mart presents $20 and $10 launch discounts on the new iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S, respectively.
The US retailer will start offering pre-orders of the iPhone 5c starting tomorrow at $79 for the 16 GB model, a $20 discount compared to Apple's standard pricing.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 5s, which is not yet available for pre-order and launches on September 20, will be sold at $189 for the 16 GB model, a $10 discount from standard pricing.
Apple recently introduced two new iPhones – the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, including a redesigned mobile operating system iOS 7.
The iPhone 5S includes a new iSight camera, faster wireless connection and a new fingerprint identity sensor. The built-in Touch ID will allow users to unlock the iPhone, and make purchases from the iTunes store, App Store, and the iBooks Store using a fingerprint.
The iPhone 5C, on the other hand, doesn’t have Touch ID but seems like a more budget-friendly version of Apple’s flagship product. It has the same size, comes with a 4” display and an 8-megapixel camera. It comes in a plastic shell and in five colors: white, green, blue, rose and yellow.
Comments from online forums show a mix of reviews about the announcement.
“I'd rather spend the extra $10 and not have to set foot in a Walmart.”
"I can’t believe Apple isn’t moving faster to create a larger iPhone screen. Bring back Steve Jobs!”
“Not selling my soul to that pig of a company for $9.”
