Apple’s TV Show ‘Planet Of The Apps’ Trailer Is Out: Will.I.Am, Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow To Take On The Judges Seats

Apple is taking a huge step as it opens its door to an original TV show. Apple’s new TV show, “Planet of the Apps” just released its trailer on Monday evening. The show will be featuring entrepreneurs as well as iOS app developers pitching their new app ideas to celebrity judges.

The “Planet of the Apps” will also feature celebrity host judges and entrepreneurs, which include will.i.am, the CEO of i.am+, Jessica Alba, the Co-founder of The Honest Co., Gary Vaynerchuk, CEO of Vayner Media and Gwyneth Paltrow, the Founder of GOOP. The four judges will be the one to decide which amongst the entrepreneurs they will mentor.

CNET shared that the participants will still be making the traditional pitch. However, instead of doing an elevator pitch then will be making an escalator pitch. Once 60 second is over, the celebrity judges will swipe either left or right that will indicate their level of confidence to the app being pitched. To make it more fun and exciting, the viewers will also be able to vote using an app, which they will also swipe left or right.

Ben Silverman, the CEO of Propogate, who happens to be Apple’s production partner, said that the new TV show is a reflection of how apps affect the lives of many people.

"And the moment that you swipe and it goes to the screen, you're reminded that apps, like music, like television, like film, are a dominant part of our cultural landscape. And when you see it you see what screen-enabled storytelling apps are," says Silverman.

Later on, the chosen winner will be rewarded with $10 million funding from Lightspeed Venture Partners. Aside from that, the winner's app will also have a front page placement in Apple's App Store, as reported by the Business Insider.

Meanwhile, Jobs & Hire reported that Apple’s CEO Tim Cook gave exciting and interesting hints about augmented reality and possibly having at the company’s next big thing.

“Planet of the Apps” will debut on Apple Music this spring. Check the full trailer below.
