Musician and The Voice judge, CeeLo Green, pleaded 'not guilty' on Monday to drug-related charges pressed against him last year.
The famous star was accused of lacing a female's drink with MMDA, or more commonly known as ecstasy. The 39-year-old star, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, had little to say during yesterday's hearing. Green only spoke to confirm that he understands the schedule of his next hearings, with one set on November 20. If found guilty with drug-related charges, Green could face up to four years in prison.
The charges rose when an unnamed woman claimed that Green slipped an ecstasy pill in her drink, and that she woke up naked beside the star with no recollection of what happened the night before. Because of insufficient evidence as confirmed by the Los Angeles prosecutor, Green will no longer face sex assault charges.
The Gnarls Barkley singer denied all allegations and pleaded 'not guilty,' with a statement released by his lawyer, Blair Beck. Green sat in the courtroom with his non-showbiz girlfriend, and posted a $30,000 bail.
"Mr. Green encouraged a full and complete investigation of those claims and he was confident once conducted he would be cleared of having any wrongful intent," said Beck as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
Green continues to host the famous television talent show, The Voice, and there's no stopping the muti-talented celebrity. His reality show, The CeeLo Life, will debut next year on TBS. The CeeLo Life will follow the singer throughout his engagements as a singer and a famous talent show judge.
