John Pike, the college campus police officer who sprayed a group of students with pepper during an Occupy Wall Street event at University of California, has been awarded $38,055 for psychiatric damage.
According to the cop, he suffered a psychological trauma after he and his family received death threats leading them to anxiety and depression in the following months after the incident in 2011.
"After leaving the force last year, Pike submitted a worker's compensation claim, saying the incident caused him to suffer unspecified psychiatric and nervous system damage," an official report informed. "The university has confirmed that it has this month agreed to pay the former police officer $38,055."
The 40-year-old former Marine will receive his retirement benefits for the 11 years he served at the university, as well.
