Foot Locker has come out with a hilarious albeit heartwarming commercial in celebration for the Week of Greatness 2013.
Mike Tyson is seen returning Evander Holyfield's ear, which he says he had been keeping in formaldehyde.
The ad is a nod to the notorious 1997 boxing match between former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, wherein Mike Tyson bit his opponent twice--the first instance severing a bit of Evander Holyfield's ear before spitting it to the ground. Mike Tyson had been disqualified.
But in the Foot Locker ad, which is promoting the Week of Greatness, the two former rivals hug it out and bury the hatchet (or in this case, the severed ear of enmity).
Also appearing in the ad are NBA superstar Dennis Rodman, who buys a one-way ticket to North Korea, much to the jubilation of the people around him (Dennis Rodman has been known for being close friends with the North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, and has reeatedly returned to the country for visits); Brett Favre, a quarterback infamous for repeatedly leaving and returning to football; and Craig Sager, who burns his disastrously colorful suits, which he is known for wearing in real life.
The Foot Locker commercial is built upon the 'ideal world' fantasies of a young man commenting on the Foot Locker's "Week of Greatness 2013."
