Katie Couric of ABC News is at it again. After transitioning from the "Today" show to CBS News, and finally to ABC News, Couric is now planning a major switch to an online Yahoo show, Washington Post reported Saturday.
According to the report, it seems that Katie Couric is now in talks with her clean exit from ABC News as special correspondent, for she is to sign under Yahoo as a sole host for her own online streaming video interview show.
Although many claim that this next big move for Katie's career is a bit risky, it is undeniable that she can advance to much greater heights with Yahoo, which is currently one of the most popular sites with over 197 million visitors for the month of July, ComScore revealed.
Meanwhile, it is undeniable that television remains to be a more lucrative vehicle when it comes to talk shows, and no Web program or site has ever come close to the success of TV talk show stars including Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, and Dr. Phil McGraw.
On the other hand, several outlets revealed that one factor which triggered Katie Couric's decision to leave ABC is the fact that her talk show "Katie" is allegedly not to be renewed by the network despite that it is already on its second season and it has a reasonably fair viewership. Additionally, several reports noted that she is sparingly seen on ABC News as a correspondent, which may have affected her view on the situation as well.
A source told The Hollywood Reporter that although Couric's contract is to end next year, she is now negotiating a clean and early exit in order for her to start working for Yahoo right away.
