It's that time of the year again when NFL players get not only that much attention but as well as earnings for the past year, and Forbes has already named the top 10 football players, who made record this 2013 for being the highest-paid individuals in the field. Let us take a look at the list of players as well the amount of money they earned for this year alone.
On tenth place is Vincent Jackson, who has managed to snatch a total earning of $23.4 million. His salary alone is at $23.2 million while his endorsements for this year amounted to $250,000. Jackson has had 1,384 receiving yards and 72 receptions in his first Bucs season. He moved from San Diego to Tampa Bay in 2012. His contract is at $55.6 million, which has paid him over $23 million in salary and bonus money.
Dwayne Bowe took the ninth spot having earned $24.9 million with a salary of $24.5 million and $400,000 endorsements. His new contract paid him $56 million over five years.
Make way for Ray Rice, who snagged the 8th spot with his total earnings of $25.8 million, salary of $24.2 million and endorsements which amounted to $1.6 million. Rice's most recent contract, which he signed in July 2012, paid him $40 million, including a $15 million signing bonus and $7 million optional bonus.
Calvin Johnson snatches the lucky seventh spot after obtaining a total earning of $26.4 million this year, which comprised his $25.5 million salary and $800,000 endorsements. Apart from all these, Johnson also has a $20 million option bonus for 2013.
On sixth place in the top 10 highest paid NFL players is Tony Romo, who earned a total of $28.8 million out of his $25.8 million salary and $3 million endorsements. Romo received a $108 million contract last March which apparently included a $25 million signing bonus.
Now we are down to the top 5, and it is not surprising that Peyton Manning landed fifth place for his total earning of $30 million, out of his $18 million salary and $12 million endorsements. Manning's newest jersey is the third best-selling ever in the NFL.
Fourth place goes to Joe Flacco, who managed to obtain an aggregate of $36.8 million earnings, with his salary at $35.9 million and his endorsements at $850,000. As the Super Bowl MVP, Flacco cashed in with a $120.6 million extension including a $29 million signing bonus.
Tom Brady comes in third place for his total earnings of $38.3 million. His salary this year is at $31.3 million while his endorsements paid him $7 million. His new below-market contract with the Patriots entitles him with a $30 million signing bonus.
On second place is Aaron Rodgers with total 2013 earnings of $49 million. His salary alone is at $49 million. As for his endorsements, he earned $ million. In April, Rodgers signed a five-year $110 million deal.
Finally, the player who is taking the lead in this top 10 highest paid players 2013 is no other than Drew Brees with his total earnings of $51 million. His salary is at $40 million while his endorsements is at $11 million. He has recently signed for a $37 million signing bonus.
