The Phoenix Suns have been a cellar-dweller over the past few seasons, but the team's dark days is already history as they have been performing well this season.
The Suns, who is considered as one of the most surprising teams this year, is on pace to make the playoff for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
And because of their surprising performance this season under rookie coach Jeff Hornacek, the Suns, who are currently sitting in eighth place in the Western Conference with their 33-23 record, are becoming an ideal destination for soon-to-be-free-agents.
And according to the Arizona Central, the Suns could make a run at signing a superstar in the next few seasons with sources saying that their executives are setting their sights on Kevin Love, who is considered as the crown jewel of the 2015 free agents batch.
Sources said that the Suns are planning to make a strong push to sign Love in 2015 or strike a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves next season.
It is still unknown whether or not Love would be interested in playing in Phoenix, but NBA analysts are convinced that Love should definitely listen to the Suns when he hits free agency in the summer of 2015.
"If Love isn't looking at the Suns, he should be. They have a good, young nucleus of players that is about to include Eric Bledsoe again. They have a coach, Hornacek, who has proved right out of the gate that he knows what he's doing and has the trust and confidence of his players," the Arizona Central noted.
When asked about his thoughts on the surprising performance of the Suns this season, the 25-year-old forward had nothing but praises to the way Phoenix have been playing all-season long.
"You know, coach Jeff Hornacek has them playing hard. They have a lot of confidence," Love said. "Their offense is very fitting for the team they have. Goran Dragic has been playing awesome basketball all year. Guys can really shoot the ball and spread the floor."
Signing the former UCLA standout will be easier said than done though as several big-market teams are expected to pursue the three-time All-Star power forward, who is averaging 26.6 points and 13.2 rebounds this season.
Among the teams that are expected to make a strong pitch to acquire Love are the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks, who are planning to make huge splash in the summer of 2015.
