Carmelo Anthony will hit free agency this summer, and the New York Knicks forward will reportedly consider signing with the Chicago Bulls in the offseason.
And on Sunday, Anthony got a taste of things to come as Bulls fans started making their pitch to convince Anthony to play in Chicago next season - and the All-Star forward was impressed.
Anthony praised Chicago fans' effort to start luring him, saying that he saw and was impressed with fan-made posters, including one showing a photo of the former Syracuse standout with label "Melo to Chicago."
"I saw a couple of those tonight," Anthony said via NY Post. "It was a good sign. It was good."
While the Bulls scored a point in the race to sign Anthony this summer, the Knicks frustrated the 29-year-old again after New York absorbed another humiliating loss.
Anthony took a swipe at his teammates, saying that they have not been playing to win over their last few games, and their recent struggles is already taking its toll on Anthony.
"Without a doubt, it's embarrassing. It's frustrating, embarrassing," Anthony said. "Teams win and lose night in, night out, but just the way we're not approaching the game with a winning attitude. I'm rambling right now, but it's frustrating and I don't like to be embarrassed like that."
The Knicks, who racked up 54 wins last season, are currently seeded 11th in Eastern Conference with their measly 21-40 win-loss record. They are on a seven-game losing skid, and have lost in 13 of their last 15 games this season.
The Knicks still have a chance to barge into the playoffs, considering how weak the Eastern Conference is this year, but Anthony said that they have to play with sense of pride if they want to advance to the postseason.
"At this point, there are no answers to it. As a team, we got to have some sense of pride and just go out there and compete. It seems we're not even competing right now. We have to do a much better job of just having a sense of pride," said Anthony, who is averaging 28.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game this season.
