Boxing News 2014: Perro Angulo Vows To Surprise Canelo Alvarez On March 8th Showdown

Alfredo Angulo is an overwhelming underdog heading into his showdown with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, but "El Perro" is confident that he can defy the tall odds against him.

In an interview with BoxingScene, Angulo expressed confidence that he will pull off a stunning win over Canelo in their upcoming match on Saturday, March 8th, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

When asked if he feels confident heading into arguably the biggest fight of his career, Angulo said that fans should expect a surprise on Saturday night, saying that he worked hard in training camp to pull off an upset.

"I feel really comfortable with him," Angulo said. "I think a lot of people are going to be surprised at the Perro they see in the ring on Saturday night.  We have worked really hard in training camp and it will show."

Angulo, who is coming off a tough tenth-round technical knockout loss to Erislandy Lara in June last year, also added that he plans to test Canelo's toughness by hitting him hard and chasing him for the entire fight.

"I'm ready to chase him or fight him like a true Mexican warrior," Angulo told Fighthype. "I plan to test him like he's never been tested before. I don't think anyone has ever hit Canelo as hard as I'm going to hit him. I'm totally relaxed and confident. Camp was amazing and I am in unbelievably great shape."

Angulo added that he trained like never before knowing that Canelo will also go all out as he is aching to rebuild his reputation after the 23-year-old former champion absorbed the first defeat of his career to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September last year.

Angulo said that his stablemates have been a big help to him during training camp. The 31-year-old Mexican trained alongside former champions Andre Ward, Andre Berto, and Amir Khan, who are also under the tutelage of famed trainer Virgil Hunter.

"I am very happy because Virgil has a team of fighters where we always try to help each other out," Angulo said. "Whoever is training and has the fight coming up gets help from the other boxers.  We don't see each other as boxers. It is like we are family."
