The New York Knicks have been playing like a team that has already waved the white flag this season, and the embarrassing season that they are having is already taking its toll on most of their players.
Carmelo Anthony recently blasted his teammates for playing without sense of pride. But aside from Anthony, starting center Tyson Chandler is also starting to lose his patience.
In an interview with Marc Berman of NY Post, Chandler said that he could consider leaving the Knicks. The 31-year-old center has to wait until 2015 if he wants to leave New York, but he could also demand for a trade this summer.
"That's something I have to visit during the offseason," Chandler said. "We're all going to have a lot of decisions to make."
The defensive-minded center, who is averaging 8.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game this season, inked a four-year deal worth $65 million with the Knicks in 2011 - the season after winning his first NBA title with the Dallas Mavericks.
Chandler was optimistic then that he has a good chance of winning his second ring with the Knicks, but it looks like a long shot at this point.
The Knicks showed a lot of promise last season when they racked up 54 regular-season wins, but the current season has been a disaster for them, and Chandler couldn't hide his frustrations anymore.
"I got a lot more pride than this, coming in night in, night out losing, and not putting forth the type of effort it takes to win. At this stage of my career and what I've established, I refuse to let it put a blemish on it," Chandler said.
And in the event the 13-year-veteran center asks for a change of scenery, Berman indicated that the Knicks could give into his demand.
Sources said that the Knicks are unsure whether or not they are willing to keep Chandler as they continue to retool their roster in the next several years.
"With the Knicks in chaos, owner James Dolan is going to look to rebuild or reload at season's end. Whether Chandler, who is starting to show signs of age, is part of the blueprints is unclear," Berman noted.
Should the Knicks and Chandler agree to part ways, the Knicks will have to rebuild their frontline rotation completely as previous reports indicated that All-Star center Amar'e Stoudemire will likely be moved as well in the offseason.
