Two of Jordan Brand's new models for this year are set to hit the sneaker market, and both shoes are expected to make headlines this weekend.
Arriving at retailers is the first product of Nike Skateboarding and Jordan Brand's collaboration - the Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 that will be released on Saturday in select Nike Stores worldwide.
The first edition of the Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 sports a combination of black and green hints on the upper part enhanced with iridescent paint throughout the upper portion. It also features a white midsole and icy blue outsole, while "AJ ONE SB" inscriptions can be found at the back heel and insole of the sneaker.
This shoe reflects the long history of the first-ever Air Jordan sneaker, which was primarily made as a basketball sneaker, but became very popular among skaters in the 1980s.
"Originally crafted as a high-performance basketball shoe for budding star Michael Jordan, the Air Jordan I inadvertently brought innovation to skate. Celebrating this unforeseen answer to the needs of skaters, Nike SB and Jordan Brand collaborate to release the Nike SB x Air Jordan I," Nike noted.
According to Nike, Air Jordan 1's performance qualities such as the superb ankle support and the popular Nike Air cushioning made it a skate favorite.
"The supportive ankle height and Nike Air cushioning of the Air Jordan I, the very things applied to help Jordan hit terra firma with immunity, were perfect for vert's needs. The premium leather was more durable than the baked rubber, canvas and suede of other models, and the Air Jordan I soon became a skate favorite," Nike noted.
The Nike SB x Air Jordan Black/Black-Silver colorway will sell at $150 per pair starting 8 a.m. ET, Saturday.
Aside from this Nike SB model, the Jordan Future is also set to make its debut on the sneaker market.
The Jordan Future, which will be the latest addition to Jordan Brand's off-court shoe collection, sports Air Jordan 11's outsole along with a one-piece women upper, leading to the creation of an eye-catching lifestyle sneaker.
"Jordan Future blends one of the brand's most iconic designs with a one-piece woven upper to create an entirely new look. The result is audacious, designed to provoke the continued evolution of the Jordan Brand's off-court lineup," Nike noted.
The Jordan Future will be released in Black/Black-Infrared 23 and Black/Black-Glow colorways on Saturday, and both will sell at $185 per pair.
