Trey Songz is gay. At least that's what a circulating tweet from the alleged official account of the famous R&B singer says. However, it was found out later on that the tweet was a hoax, trying to demean Songz.
According to The Hollywood Gossip, a Twitter hoax is circulating online lately, claiming that singer Trey Songz is gay. As opposed to the growing number of death hoaxes victimizing countless stars, celebs, and famous personalities, this new hoax attacks the singer's sexuality.
Reports claim that a "doctored tweet purportedly sent from his Twitter account" surfaced early this wing, sparking a huge buzz online that the R&B crooner has allegedly come out of his closet.
Several sites picked up the fake tweet and reported that the singer has come out. This then provoked fans to re-tweet and comment to Trey Songz's sexuality.
Reactions ranged from being amused of the revelation to being shocked that the popular singer is gay all along.
Because it led to an online frenzy, the singer himself didn't let the opportunity to clarify things out simply pass.
"The things you people craft up with hatred in your hearts ... the things people believe without question, or validity, all baffles me," Songz said adding, "Photoshop and a retweet is all people need to believe, any and everything. I feel bad for the impressionable, or no minds of their own."
"If I'm gay then Tupac bringing me a ounce for this session wit Biggie tomorrow," Songz concluded. "No weapon. #LOVE. Last tweet was funny doe!!"
The circulating sexuality hoax is a new breed of hoaxes online. Usually, reports claiming that a celeb has passed away surface out of the blue. These celebrity death hoaxes have victimized a lot of stars including: Wayne Knight, Chumlee, Will Smith, and Lil Wayne among others.
Meanwhile, it isn't clear yet on whoever is to blame for the Trey Songz gay hoax.
