Frozen Hitting Another Milestone As It Earned The Biggest and Top-Grossing Animation Box Office In History

The Disney animated movie Frozen has earned another milestone for being the biggest and top-grossing animation box office in history. It has earned a whopping $1.072 billion throughout the world, overtaking the previous record held by Pixar's Toy Story 3 at $1.063 billion in 2010.

Frozen premiered on November 27, was inspired by a fairytale by Hans Christian Anderson, The Snow Queen. The two-time Oscar winning movie was released in 36 countries joined the billion dollar box office earlier this March. Now, Frozen hit the No. 1 spot on the top grossing list.

Disney was excited to announce the news on march 30, as it garnered the top spot. The studio reported that the musical animated film earned an estimated $398.4 million in the United States, and $674 million in other countries. Frozen also made the longest running film on the top of the list since 2002, staying on the top 10 list for 16 successive weeks.

"Let It Go" from the Frozen movie soundtrack also made waves, with different versions being sung all over the internet. The internet community warmly accepted the song and made it increasingly popular with famous talented artists doing different variations. There is also a version where Disney and Pixar characters sings the song. Some parodies and theater adaptation also graced the limelight with their 'Let It Go" concepts.

The Frozen soundtrack is already a big success, it already sold more than 200,000 copies last week, and has been in the top of the Billboard Chart.

Frozen receiving all this attention, getting the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and hitting the No.1 spot for the highest grossing animated movie of all time, provides Disney all the reason to celebrate.

Disney will be releasing more of its animated movies in the following years, with some high expectations for their latest upcoming movie "Maleficent" starring Angelina Jolie.
