Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana News: Roger Mayweather Believes Floyd Is Too Quick For Maidana

Boxing experts are convinced that Marcos Maidana can give Floyd Mayweather a run for his money in their upcoming showdown on May 3 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

But trainer Roger Mayweather believes that his nephew will have a walk in the park against Maidana, expressing confidence that the reigning pound-for-pound king will stop the Argentine.

Roger Mayweather told On The Ropes Boxing Radio on Monday that Maidana will get hit a lot, saying that Floyd Jr. is too quick for the Argentine champion.

"I believe that Floyd will stop him, I do believe that. Floyd is too quick for him and he's gonna hit him with punches that he don't see, that's what's going to cause the stoppage on him, that's what I think," Roger Mayweather said.

The elder Mayweather also played down what most analysts are saying about the possible outcome of the Mayweather-Maidana showdown. He pointed out that they are not concerned about what other people are saying, insisting that they will go all out to prove Floyd's doubters wrong.

"People say he ain't going to stop Maidana, but we ain't concerned with what people say or what they think," Roger Mayweather stressed. "But the difference between Floyd and any other fighter, is Floyd's going to hit Maidana more than he ever been hit, that's the key to stopping somebody, hitting them with punches he don't see."

Roger Mayweather also added that they are not thinking about what Maidana can bring on the table. Instead, they are preparing for what Floyd Jr. will do against the 30-year-old Argentine.

And when asked about whether or not his undefeated nephew is already thinking about retirement, Roger Mayweather said that Floyd Jr. wants to go out on a high note, but he is planning to complete his contract with ShowTime before thinking about hanging up his gloves.

"My nephew want to go out of boxing as the greatest fighter ever, and if he want to walk away and be known as the greatest fighter ever, he will whop this dudes ass right here and finish his contract, and boom, he walk away from the sport," Roger Mayweather said.
