Jessica Alba is dead at 32. At least that's what a circulating report claims. That the 32-year-old Hollywood celeb has died Friday April 11, 2014. However, it was found out later on that the news was simply another death hoax. Jessica Alba is very alive at the moment and is enjoying her time with her family.
On Friday, several fans were shocked when they stumbled upon an online article claiming that the lovely actress, Jessica Alba, has passed away. Although the report was very suspicious to begin with, some fans of the actress couldn't help but wonder and worry for the beautiful mom.
According to Media Mass, an "R.I.P. Jessica Alba" Facebook page was created in light of the actress' alleged passing. The page reportedly got almost one million likes and shares from concerned netizens, who were eager to express their condolences and sympathy to the family and friends of the "Fantastic Four" star.
The description of the Facebook page reads: "At about 11 a.m. ET on Friday (April 11, 2014), our beloved actress Jessica Alba passed away. Jessica Alba was born on April 28, 1981 in Pomona. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page."
Nevertheless, it was found out that Media Mass' report was apparently a hoax. On its "About Us" page, an explanation on the nature of the site could be seen.
"The website mediamass.net is the medium of our satire to expose with humour, exaggeration and ridicule the contemporary mass production and mass consumption that we observe," the site's description reads. "Also it will not only mock the producers (mainstream media, journalists) as it is common when questioning and criticizing mass media, but also the consumers as one cannot exist without the other. Sensationalism, lack of verification of information, ethics and standards issues are only symptoms of the actual social and economic order. This is particularly obvious when observing the role of social networking sites in spreading rumours."
Meanwhile, another site called Necropedia is spreading an online obituary of the actress, causing more confusion among fans.
"poor beautiful jessica may she rest in everlasting peace," a Steven Brown commented.
"some people are think she aint dead yet lol," a Matt Greene wrote.
"So you got it wrong! Ha!" a Claudio Edington opined.
Jessica Alba joins a long list of stars who became victims of circulating death hoaxes. Other stars who recently died because of a false report include: Blake Lively, Will Smith, Betty White, Hulk Hogan, and Justin Bieber among others.
