Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana will collide in a 12-round title unification bout on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas - a fight that could either be a lopsided affair or a shocking one.
Mayweather, who holds an immaculate 45-0 record in his professional boxing career, will look to prove his doubters wrong as he vows to go all out in his upcoming fight.
The reigning WBC welterweight kingpin, who is a 12-1 favorite heading into fight night, said in an interview that he will also look to score a knockout win, similar to what Maidana's trainer is talking about.
"I want to look impressive when I go out there Saturday," Mayweather told BoxingScene. "I want to look impressive, put on a good show and we don't look for this fight to go the distance. (Maidana's trainer) Robert (Garcia) talking about he's not looking for the fight to go the distance. We not looking for it to go the distance. You gonna get a hell of a fight Saturday. I guarantee you that."
Like Mayweather, Maidana, who will put his WBA welterweight title on the line on Saturday, expressed confidence about his chances against the reigning pound-for-pound king.
The 30-year-old Argentine said that he had the hardest training camp in his career, and he believes he is in the best shape of his professional career.
Maidana said that he is even in a better shape than when he scored a huge upset win over then-unbeaten champion Adrien Broner in December last year.
Maidana, who is set to earn a guaranteed purse of $1.5 million along with pay-per-view shares on Saturday night, credited Alex Ariza, his new strength and conditioning coach, for his superb shape heading into the biggest fight of his boxing career.
"We worked a lot in the last six weeks to be in the best shape of our lives. That's why I look good. No one's looking better," said Maidana, who holds 35-3 record with 31 knockout wins.
The Mayweather vs Maidana showdown will be the main event of a blockbuster four-fight main card, which will also feature bouts between Amir Khan and Luis Collazo, Adrien Broner and Carlos Molina, and J'Leon Love and Marco Antonio Periban.
The main card will start at 9 p.m. ET and will be shown live on ShowTime PPV. Fight fans can also catch the matches through online live stream available via SHO Sports: Press Pass Live.
