Boxing News 2014: Amir Khan Hoping To Meet With Floyd Mayweather In UK To Discuss Possible Fight

Amir Khan is not yet giving up on his dream to face Floyd Mayweather, and the British boxing icon is hoping to sit down with Floyd Mayweather soon.

According to reports, Mayweather is set to fly to Bolton as part of a series of dinners around UK, and Khan is aching to have a meeting with the reigning pound-for-pound king.

Khan said that he is planning to invite Mayweather to his Bolton house, and he is optimistic that the unbeaten champion will give into his request, expressing belief that the Grand Rapids native included Bolton in his dinner series because he is also interested in talking about a possible Mayweather vs Khan showdown.

"Maybe he is coming here because he is looking at a fight with me in the future, but I don't know why he is coming to Bolton," Khan said in a Daily Star interview. "If he didn't know me, I don't think he'd have heard of Bolton so there must be some interest there from him, but will he fight me? I don't know."

Khan almost got his dream bout earlier this year as he was considered as frontrunner to land a fight with Mayweather, but the 37-year-old champion eventually decided to face Marcos Maidana.

Khan was forced to settle with a fight against Luis Collazo, and he did not disappoint, scoring a lopsided unanimous decision victory - his third-straight win since absorbing twin defeats to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia, respectively.

The 27-year-old former light middleweight champion has been optimistic that Mayweather will eventually decide to face him, but he also admitted in a Daily Mail interview that time might be running out.

"I think time might be running out," Khan lamented. "You always fear a little bit that the fight may not happen, but then I think to myself that at least the world knows I wanted it to happen. It's a fight I really want and if it never happens I'll be upset because he is the best out there."
