Michael Sam and his boyfriend Vito Cammisano was seen celebrating at Tao night club in Las Vegas after the former became the first openly gay player to be drafted in the NFL.

The couple partied with close friend and Sam's agent hours after the former Missouri standout made NFL history. The Las Vegas Sun also reported that Sam spotted Seattle Mariners' Richard Sherman at the nightclub and the two talked to each other for several minutes.

Sam and Cammisano were also seen locking lips after the St. Louis Rams picked the defensive end in the seventh round of the NFL Draft 2014 on Saturday.

According to reports, Cammisano is a 23-year-old fellow University of Missouri alum, and was one of the stars of the school's swimming team from 2009 to 2012.

Cammisano also made noise in different social networking websites when he posted: "We are staying home! Could not be more proud of my babe."

The Rams' decision to pick Sam drew mixed reactions, but several famous personalities saw a lot of positives from the historic selection, including US President Barack Obama, who congratulated Sam and the Rams for the historic moment.

"The President congratulates Michael Sam, the Rams and the NFL for taking an important step forward today in our Nation's journey. From the playing field to the corporate boardroom, LGBT Americans prove everyday that you should be judged by what you do and not who you are," the White House statement reads.

For his part, Sam also thanked all people who believed that he can be drafted and make it into the NFL despite the controversy surrounding his sexual orientation.

Sam admitted, though, that he was disappointed out that he was drafted in the seventh round, expressing belief that he deserved to be drafted at least in the third round. The former Missouri standout expressed gratitude to the Rams, who used their 249th pick to acquire Sam.

"From last season alone, I should've been in the first three rounds," Sam said via New York Daily News. "They saw Michael Sam, day after day they scratched it off the board. That was their loss. But St. Louis kept me on the board."
