Kevin Durant was named as the 2014 NBA Most Valuable Player, and to celebrate Durant's historic season, Nike released a special edition of the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar's signature sneaker.

Nike released the KD VI "MVP" edition, which is now available on NIKEiD. This edition features a white and black-based upper part with pixelated graphic design, representing Durant's excellent season.

Durant had a stellar season for the Thunder as he averaged career-high 32.0 points to go along with 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists to finally dethrone four-time, and back-to-back MVP LeBron James of the Miami Heat.

"The KD VI was developed to the exact specifications of MVP Kevin Durant, with a sharp focus on design benefits and personal stories. The journey continues with a KD VI NIKEiD MVP graphic celebrating Durant's first MVP award," Nike's statement reads. "There is more to KD's MVP award than stellar statistics. His mental focus this season allowed him to cut through the clutter, represented by the pixelated KD VI NIKEiD MVP graphic."

Aside from the MVP edition, Durant's sixth signature shoe with Nike will also come out in another special edition later this week.

Nike will release the KD VI "Brazil World Cup" edition, which is part of Nike's celebration of the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, which is scheduled to start on June 12.

This edition, which is officially listed Black/Metallic-Clear-Light Lucid Green-Atomic Mango colorway of the shoe, is also known as the "Night Vision" edition.

It features a black-based upper part with light lucid green lining and outsole along with atomic mango-colored air heel unit. It also sports a noise pattern on the Nike Swoosh logo and KD branding.

"The latest color way of the KD VI is inspired by night vision, with a sleek black upper highlighted with Light Lucid Green and Atomic Mango details," the shoe as described by Nike in their release statement.

This edition of the KD VI will be available starting Saturday, May 24, with retail price set at $130 per pair.

In June, two more editions are scheduled for release - the "Gold" edition and the "What the KD?" edition, which are already making noise online. Nike has yet to release detailed information on these two upcoming editions.
