Blind Dog Lands Hot Tub - A partially blind dog dropped 15-storeys from a California condo balcony and survived the super scary fall after landing into a hot jacuzzi.
According to reports, the incident happened on Monday when 13-year-old Sam, a Boston terrier, fell through the railing of his owner, Bill McCourt's apartment at the Bridgeway Towers.
It's still unclear how Sam fell from the balcony. However, he landed very hard, just about in the middle of a neighbor's hot tub, next to a pool situated 15-feet-below.
Sam was reportedly trying to swim out of the hot tub when two construction workers from the nearby house heard the loud bang and rushed out to check what happened.
"My first thought was he must have got out and taken the stairs or the elevator or something," said Bette Plumb, McCourt's mother and Sam's caretaker by day. "But there's no way he could have gotten out of the condo. All of a sudden, I knew. It hit me immediately. He fell."
According to local sources, when Plumb went downstairs to check on Sam, she surprisingly found the lucky dog walking with a slight limp.
"It's absolutely a miracle," She said. "There's no way that dog should be alive."
Sam was transported to the VCA Bradshaw Animal Hospital where doctor's confirmed that Sam suffered five broken ribs and several fractures to his pelvis. Sam also had to have stitches for a cut on his rear. Sam is currently receiving treatment and is expected to get better within weeks.
McCourt was very pleased to find Sam alive and healthy - albeit a little bruised up. He says he had the dog since he was only 5-weeks-old and had moved into the condo about three years ago.
"Whenever I tell someone what happened, they keep saying, "The 15th floor? Are you sure it was the 15th floor?" because no one can believe it. They're completely amazed," McCourt said. "I just want to get him home. He's a huge part of my family."
He say's although Sam loves the balcony, his days of enjoying the sun and the city view are over.
