The "No Man's Sky" release date has been confirmed for Jun. 21, 2016. It will be published for PS4 and PC.
Design&Trend reported that Hello Games boss Sean Murray shared his thoughts on the possibility of bringing the game to virtual reality. In a discussion with Kinda Funny Games, the project's lead programmer expressed the difficulty of working with VR especially with such a small team.
There have been speculations that "No Man's Sky" PC and PS4 will also have a version for virtual reality. According to YHM's report last September, the game's release date may have been delayed due to Sony's Project Morpheus.
The space exploration game would have been the perfect launch title for Sony's VR headset. This could also help boost the company's popularity and sales.
"I think 'No Man's Sky' would be a really exciting title for VR," Murray admitted. "I think it would be cool, but we're a tiny team working on this game right now."
The publication noted that this could mean that the VR features will not be available at day one of the "No Man's Sky" release date. The developers are considering it, though.
"After the game comes out we'll just have to see what people most want," the Hello Games boss added. "When we launch, we want people to see what we have in mind, which is exploring."
Last August, Sean Murray also teased fans about "No Man's Sky" PC and PS4 coming to VR consoles such as Project Morpheus and the Oculus Rift. In an interview with Edge Magazine, via GamesRadar, the developer hinted at the possibility.
"I don't know what I'm allowed to say," he said. "It's something we're thinking about. Morpheus, Oculus... There's nothing more cool and sci-fi than VR and a big procedural universe."
"I think that, for the people who want to just explore, and even for the space combat and things like that, it would be a good fit. Let's put it that way."
