"Suicide Squad" Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie revealed details about her character. The 26-year-old Aussie beauty also recently starred in the live-action adaptation of "Tarzan" with Alexander Skarsgård.
The "Suicide Squad" Harley Quinn actress is currently on the cover of Vanity Fair's Aug. 2016 issue. Margot Robbie talked about her character in the upcoming "Batman" offshoot.
Harley Quinn is a New York psychiatrist who fell in love with the Joker, portrayed by Jared Leto in "Suicide Squad," while he was in therapy. She not only becomes his love interest but also takes on the role of his sidekick. She is expected to eventually become a super-villain on her own right.
"She loves causing mayhem and destruction," the "Suicide Squad" Harley Quinn actress said about the character. "She's incredibly devoted to the Joker. They have a dysfunctional relationship, but she loves him anyway. She used to be a gymnast-that's her skill set when fighting."
Collider noted that it would be interesting to see how Quinn's relationship with Joker will play out in "Suicide Squad." It was also suggested that Harley may face a near-fatal attack in the film.
Robbie's character has successfully built up the anticipation for the upcoming film. There may be high expectations but it seems apparent that the 26-year-old Aussie can live up to the fans' hopes.
Meanwhile, according to Comic Book Resources, "Suicide Squad's" Harley Quinn may be involved in a love triangle with the Joker and Will Smith's character, Deadshot.
"Harley is the biggest troublemaker, but Deadshot's actually eyeballing her a little bit," the actor said. "There's a pretty ragged romantic triangle there."
Director David Ayer also shared his thoughts on Harley Quinn and The Joker's relationship. "It's about [Harley] breaking free of The Joker and becoming this fully actualised, independent person," he revealed. "That really is a metaphor for everyone's journey here."
"Suicide Squad" also stars Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo and Adam Beach as Slipknot. It is slated for release on Aug. 5.
