Harry Connick Jr. just might be the newest judge for 'American Idol' Season 13, after news broke out that Dr. Luke had left the role, and although Fox executives were eager to add a non-celebrity judge for this season, the wind may have blown them to Harry Connick Jr.'s direction, NY Daily News reported Wednesday.

According to E! Online, after Dr. Luke exited the show because of the possible conflict he would cause between his label, Sony Music, and Universal Music, - the one handling the 'American Idol' releases - Harry Connick Jr. had found his way to discussing the possibility of becoming 'American Idol's' next judge, to join once again Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban.

"Well, yeah, I mean I had a really good time! I had a good time mentoring," Harry Connick Jr. told Ellen DeGeneres in May when the rumors about the issue began to surface. "Judging is a whole different deal; I don't know how good I would be at that."

UPI reported that although Harry Connick Jr. isn't such a big name so as to please all of 'American Idol' fans, producers have stated earlier that they are gearing towards boosting their older women demographics, after the controversial and constant bickering between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey on Season 12.

The 45-year-old singer had confessed earlier that he is a big fan of 'American Idol.'

"I think you need to be completely honest, and I think you need to be diplomatic. I think there's no reason to be mean, but it is called being a judge. You have to judge. That's what you do," Connick added.

E! News stated that Harry Connick Jr. is not new to the hit talent competition since he has appeared as mentor and guest judge, and even performed in previous seasons.

Jennifer Hudson, Kanye West, and Will.i.am are reportedly potential candidates to the spot as well.

'American Idol' Season 13 starts taping next week, but THR has stated recently that filming could be moved or delayed if the judging panel will not be finalized within this week.
