Buxom beauty Christina Hendricks has landed a leading role in upcoming thriller, "Dark Places," her rep confirmed on Wednesday, September 14.
Hendricks will be playing Patty Davis, the murdered mother of Libby Davis, who in turn will be played by Charlize Theron.
Christina Hendricks had initially been cast in a supporting role as Krissi Cates, a stripper, but has since moved to the lead role (much to the chagrin of her male fans) when Samantha Morton—who had been the first to be cast as Davis—dropped out of the production, leaving an opening to the Emmy-nominated Henricks.
Filming has just recently begun on "Dark Places," a screen adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel Dark Places, to be directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner. Oscar winner Charlize Theron has since nabbed the tole of Libby Davis, a woman who had survived the massacre of her family at the age of seven, and ends up testifying and implicating her brother of the murders until, several years later, is confronted by a group investigating on notorious crimes, thereby forcing Theron's character about what she did-and didn't-see on the night of the murders. The novel was published in 2009 ang remained on the New Yort Times bestseller for more than 25 weeks.
That Hendricks, 38, will play mother to Theron, who is also 38, sounds like an outrageous idea to some, but this problem is solved as the film would be told through a series of flashbacks; Theron would be playing the adult Libby Davis, while World War Z child actress Sterling Jerins will be portraying her as a child.
Filming is reportedly underway in Shreveport Louisiana with the rest of the cast, Nicholas Hoult, Chloë Grace Moretz, Corey Stoll, Tye Sheridan, and Shannon Kook.
The production remains mum on the film's release date.
