Getting kids to take a bath can be a struggle, but a 9-year-old girl is making bath time more fun for everyone, and she’s also making money with her “explosive” new business.
According to SouthCoast Today, Hannah Grace Walsh of New Bedford, Massachusetts, is creating her own kind of bath bombs and is making money at it too. The 9-year-old mixes up essential oils, baking soda, salt, food coloring, and a few other ingredients before packing everything in a ball-shaped mold to dry. The result: a ball that fizzes and dissolves when put into water.
Walsh said that her family encouraged her to make her own products.
“My dad thought I could make these and it worked,” she said, adding that her favorite part if of the process is the molding.
Her products are available at a local salon called Elements of Style, and Hippo, which sells handmade local products.
Shelly Cardoos, who owns Hippo, said that she was very impressed with the young girl and that she and her store manager have tried Walsh’s products. Cardoos said that Walsh’s products are “selling really well” and that she had to come in several times to the shop to replenish.
Walsh promotes her products through an Instagram page and a YouTube channel with the name Hannah Grace BeYOUtiful. The kid entrepreneur said that she gets help from her family with her business, and everyone pitches in to help her shoot videos or make the products. Walsh’s mother, Grace, says that even her 12-year-old son, John, helps out.
Walsh takes some inspiration from one of the most well-known bath products company. In her YouTube videos, she demonstrates how to make a Galaxy Bath Bomb similar to that made by Lush.
Now, the entrepreneur is thinking about expanding into soap. Walsh is currently working on creating a bar of soap that can be molded into different shapes.
