Fans of HBO's hit television show, Game of Thrones, can now begin setting their TiVo's as the network announced the official premiere date yesterday, which is set to air on Sunday April 6th at 9 p.m. EST.

After finishing 2013 as the most pirated television show for the 2nd year in a row, Game of Thrones' fans and followers alike will be anticipating the return of the popular HBO fantasy stemming from the void left after Season 3's shocking culmination. The incontestably bloody 9th episode "The Rains of Castamere" (the books equivalent to "The Red Wedding"), received 5.22 million views making it at the time, the second most watched Game of Thrones episode to date (Game of Thrones, Season 3 Wiki).  The game-changing second to last episode, which overshadowed the shows final episode in true Game of Thrones fashion, brought about the untimely end of three of the show's main characters just an episode before the finale ("Mhysa").

The HBO fantasy now in its 4th season will be a highly watched debut based off of the overwhelming fan base that this show has built through television viewing and torrent downloading since its debut in April of 2011. The popular franchise has begun taking on a life of its own since the acclaimed first season, successfully growing its number of followers over each season with the conclusion of its third season being its most watched episode to date.

HBO will have a treat in store for those tuned into to HBO's Winter TV premiere lineup this Sunday, as the network has announced the Season 4 Game of Thrones trailer will air on January 12th (sneak peek uploaded today on Vine), just before the series premiere of Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey's new crime drama True Detective. Also premiering on the cable network this Sunday is the third season of  HBO's acclaimed comedy/drama Girls.
