Juan Manuel Marquez has yet to decide on the proposed fifth fight with Manny Pacquiao, but Mexican-American featherweight Rocky Juarez believes that Pacquiao vs Marquez 5 will eventually happen.
And when asked about his thoughts about Pacquiao-Marquez 5, Juarez, the reigning WBC silver featherweight champion, is convinced that the Mexican boxing icon will win again.
In an interview with On The Ropes Boxing Radio, Juarez said that Marquez, who scored a sixth round knockout in their fourth showdown in December 2012, has had Pacquiao's numbers before.
"I think Marquez. I would have to pick Marquez because Marquez has always been close," Juarez said.
The 34-year-old Juarez pointed out that Marquez has been very dedicated to his craft, while Pacquiao's focus is not solely on boxing as he is also an elected lawmaker in the Philippines, and has a lot of other commitments.
"Pacquiao is still a great champion, I love Pacquiao, but I think Marquez is more committed to the sport of boxing than Pacquiao, I believe in my personal opinion. I think I would have to choose Marquez over Pacquiao," Juarez said.
Juarez declined to comment when asked whether or not Pacquiao has lost his killer instinct similar to what other fighters and boxing analysts are claiming, saying that the former pound-for-pound king is still one of the best fighters today, but Marquez simply just know how to deal with the Filipino boxing icon.
"I'm not gonna say he's not as hungry," Juarez said. "I think Pacquiao is still a great fighter and a great champion, but Marquez has always had his number. Marquez knows how to figure him out. Styles make fights, and I feel that Pacquiao and Marquez are both each other's nemeses. They were meant for each other, for great fights."
Pacquiao, who is coming off two-straight impressive wins against Brandon Rios and Timothy Bradley, is set to return to action on November 22 in Macau.
Top Rank Promotions chief Bob Arum recently said that Marquez is still on top of their list of Pacquiao's possible opponents, but the famed promoter said that they are also considering other fighters, including Danny Garcia, Ruslan Provodnikov, Carlos Abregu, and Saul Canelo Alvarez.
