Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 5 Fight Update: Nacho Beristain Still Uninterested in Fifth Fight

Manny Pacquiao is still aching to avenge his knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez in their previous fight, but trainer Nacho Beristain is still uninterested in pitting his Mexican fighter against the Filipino boxing icon again.

In an interview with BoxingScene, Beristain revealed that they are considering several fighters for Marquez's next fight, but there is one fighter that he would not consider again.

Beristain said that he doesn't want Marquez to face Pacquiao again in a fifth fight even if the fight could generate good pay-per-view numbers, saying that it is not always about money.

"There are a number of very interesting fights for Juan, but I insist that there is one opponent who I wouldn't want again - Manny Pacquiao," Beristain said. "I do not like that fight, and it is not about money. You don't think that I would sympathize [with everyone who wants to do a] fifth fight between them, because of the income that I could get? But it is much more than that."

Beristain pointed out that a fifth fight will be too much for both fighters after engaging in four action-packed fights before with the fourth showdown ending in a scintillating knockout win for Marquez.

"The four bouts have been grueling, bitter, and a fifth battle would be no exception," Beristain said. "Juan Manuel is not going to be [fighting] for much longer, and ideally I would like for him to retire with his health intact, to enjoy his family, and take another path other than training and boxing. He has the right to enjoy his money and his family."

Beristain conceded, though, that the final decision is on Marquez's hand, saying that he can't do anything if the 40-year-old Mexican wants to face his longtime rival again.

"Another fight between Pacquiao and Juan would be another hellish encounter. It is better for them not to meet again in the ring. Of course, if they offer that fight, it is Juan who ultimately decides. He will know what course of action to take if a fight [offer to face Pacquiao] is looking more concrete," Beristain said.
