Curious "Suicide Squad" fans are getting quite excited about the upcoming DC Comics' anti-hero team film as they continue keeping tabs over this intriguing villainous collaboration. Now, latest updates are hinting the possibility of a sequel.
Another reason for the added excitement is the fact that "Suicide Squad" has a huge, star-studded cast including Will Smith (Deadshot), Jared Leto (Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Karen Fukuhara (Katana), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), Adam Beach (Slipknot) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller). Scott Eastwood, Ike Barinholtz, Jim Parrack, Common, Alex Meraz, David Harbour and Raymond Olubowale have also been cast in unspecified roles, as previously reported.
"Suicide Squad" director David Ayer, on the other hand, recently proved that he is indeed one old-fashioned filmmaker as he chose practical effects over CGI. According to Batman News, the reason why Ayer preferred to utilize practical effects is his willingness to shot the film out on the streets of Toronto. And as seen on his latest on-set photos, a military chopper could be seen in front of a green screen that the computer graphics will fill in during post-production. Through this, he made an impeccable balance by blending practical effects with CGI.
Since "Suicide Squad" is the biggest collaboration of comic book supervillains, fans are wondering if they can get a glimpse of a new Poison Ivy? In a DC Comics Twitter Q&A, comic writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Connor confirmed in June that Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are "girlfriends." With this, it's seems clear that DC is going full-on superpowers with their new movies, so there's plenty of room for a possibility of Ivy's reappearance again.
So, assuming that the Task Force X's felons will get themselves a "Suicide Squad" sequel, MTV named the actresses who have the potential in playing the role of Poison Ivy. And they are Holland Roden ("Teen Wolf's" Lydia), Karen Gillan (a "Guardians of the Galaxy" villain), Isla Fisher, Eva Green and Gillian Anderson.
"Suicide Squad," one of the upcoming movies that generated a huge buzz during the Comic-Con San Diego, will hit the theaters on Aug. 5, 2016, Bleeding Cool noted.
