"Mortal Kombat X" director Ed Boon made an announcement on Twitter, Monday, that there will be big news coming this week. This came in after the Warner Bros. Interactive brought the unfortunate news to the owners of PS3 and Xbox 360, confirming "MKX's" cancellation from the last-gen consoles.
Boon did not give any additional details about it, but it seems that his tweet concurred NeatherRealm's community specialist Tyler Lansdown's statement, after the "Kombat Kast" livestream. According to GameSpot, the event wrapped up by teasing the fans of keeping an eye on NeatherRealm's social sites for the big news.
Theories surfaced after Boon's tweet, which — by the way — has a full moon snap. One particular theory suggest that the snap could indicate the "Pit," GameRant reported.
It is known, especially to the avid fans of the classic "Mortal Kombat," that this arena is a bridge hanging just above the sea of steel spikes, located on Shang Tsung's island. Other than these fatal metal spikes, the key feature that makes the pit recognizable is the full moon shining above it.
Who could ever be more excited than the fans? Here's what some of them said.
SlingshoT (@IIIllIlIlI) tweeted, "@noobde THE PIT!! FINALLY THE PIT!!"
"@noobde Is this a tease for the pit stage? I'm thinking so," Michael Sherrard (@SherrardMichael) added.
"@noobde KLASSIC STAGES ON THE WAY!!!" Daniel Muñoz (@Dantesd94) said.
The pit has a significance to the legendary fighting game. If these speculations are right, then Boon's tweet is suggesting the presence of the first arena "klassic" in the latest iteration.
The other part of the story brings unfortunate news for PS3 and Xbox 360 users. It has been confirmed that the last-gen consoles will not be seeing the "Mortal Kombat X."
The released statement from Warner Bros. Interactive explained that the quality standards set by the new-gen versions of "Mortal Kombat X" were not met by the last-gen versions. The company apologized for not being able to carry out the products as intended.
Customers who pre-ordered "Mortal Kombat X" for PS3 and Xbox 360 are advised to go to the retail location where they have ordered the game for a full refund, TechnoBuffalo learned.
