‘Jurassic World 2’ To Feature Weaponized Dinosaurs In Cities? Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas On Board Sequel

"Jurassic World's" director Colin Trevorrow hinted that the next installment of the franchise may no longer be set on a theme park. "I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment," the filmmaker shared.

"Jurassic World 2," the follow up to the box office phenomenon, "Jurassic World," is confirmed to be underway. After raking in $1.6 billion and counting, it's hard for Universal Pictures not to make a sequel. As reported by Screen Crush, movie director Colin Trevorrow recently talked about the inevitable sequel for the hit film.

"[It will not be] just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island. That'll get old real fast." said Trevorrow.

Trevorrow's vision for "Jurassic World 2" will be a bit different from the previous movies. And instead of the usual dinosaurs chasing the characters, he said that he aims to focus on what if InGen's dinosaur program is taken to the mainland.

As fans may recall, every "Jurassic" movie takes place on an isolated island, far away from actual civilization.

However, Trevorrow said that he is still unsure whether he will be returning to direct the next movie, but declared that he will be returning to write along with his partner Derek Connolly.

According to Digital Spy, the movie will also focus on the dinosaurs getting weaponized. During the first film, Vincen D' Onofrio's character Vic Hoskins lobbied to turn the raptors into weapons of war. Judging from director Trevorrow's statement, it looks like this theme will also be explored.

Main actors Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and Ty Simpkins are also set to return for the sequel the Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Albeit starting to slow down on its earnings, "Jurassic World" will finish as the third highest-grossing film of all time.

"Jurassic World 2" is slated for a June 22, 2018 release.
