"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is expected to hit the box office following its prequel "The Maze Runner," which reportedly had a worldwide earning of $340.8 million.
The anticipation is rising as the release date is nearing, and to hype up the fans, 20th Century Fox released an exclusive sneak peek to ComingSoon.net. The "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" video showed a short onset interview of the cast and director Wes Ball, and at the same time, some behind-the-scene clips of the movie.
"The Maze Runner" sequel will pick up from where the first movie left off. Dylan O'Brien, who plays Thomas, and the other Gladers were brought to WCKD's lab where they will meet Janson — known as Littlefinger — who is played by "Game of Thrones" actor Aidan Gillen for the phase two.
In the new movie, the group escaped and ventured into The Scorch where zombies, or in this case the Cranks, are on the loose. There are others involved now and there are no rules and no help, so either they fight to survive or die.
The "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is a film adaptation from James Dashner's young adult novel being compared to "Hunger Games" and "Harry Potter" series. The prequel's debut may have earned a little less compared to J.K Rowling and Suzanne Collins' novels, but it still did well, as per The Christian Science Monitor.
The imagination and style of director Ball were noted. The action scenes were described as masterfully paced, and if there's one cinematic videogame it can be compared with, that would be "The Last of Us," according to GamesRadar.
There may be so much action, which is good, but the site added that film needed to have the script focused on profound exploration of the characters' relationships.
Fans will get to see themselves whether or not the "Maze Runner" sequel will exceed their expectations in a few days.
"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" premieres on Sept. 18 in 3D, 2D, and IMAX theaters.
