Michael Schumacher 2015 [LATEST HEALTH UPDATE]: Former F1 Superstar’s Full Recovery Impossible? Progress Still ‘Painfully Slow’ Amid Some Improvements

Ever since Michael Schumacher's family asked for a media blackout, news and updates about the former Formula One superstar have been quite elusive. Luckily, some people close to the 46-year-old racer have been sharing about the progress of his current health condition.

Michael Schumacher's health has long been a mystery since updates have remained scarce and reports have been inconclusive. But one thing is sure and that is he is currently recovering at his mansion in Switzerland following a serious head injury from a skiing accident in the Alpine Ski resort of Meribel, France in December 2013, as previously reported.

The accident left Michael Schumacher in a medically-induced coma for six months. Fortunately on June 16, 2014, Schumacher had come out from his coma and was discharged from the hospital, MNR Daily revealed. In a video interview with his manager in May, Sabine Kehm reportedly gave an update about Schumacher's health, saying his health is improving.

"We are happy to say still he does improvement and I say this always considering the severeness of the injury he had," Kehm said. "But of course it will take a very long time for everybody involved to fight, and we are happy to take this fight."

Kehm's words were echoed by an insider, who said, as per Cross Map, that Michael Schumacher's progress is "painfully slow."

"Progress is painfully slow," a source said. "There is no miracle on the horizon."

Currently, a total of 15 people are closely monitoring and helping Michael Schumacher with his condition. The total cost for his rehabilitation is reportedly $154,000 (£100,000) a week, and with this expenditure spiraling to more than $15.2 million, his family is allegedly having a hard time. But the good news is, Schumacher is making some improvements.

Unfortunately, neurological and spinal surgeon Peter Hamlyn claimed that Michael Schumacher won't fully recover and his slow recovery is just a torture to the family and fans.

"If you look at severe head injury victims who go on to make a good recovery - and I'm not saying all do - it will always be a story of years," Hamlyn said. "The first months are dominated by questions of survival. Gradually as the weeks and months go by those questions of survival turn into questions of the quality of survival."

Michael Schumacher has become one of the biggest and most celebrated names in the history of Formula One racing, Christian Post noted. During the course of his career, he was named "Laureus World Sportsman of the Year" twice and has amassed an estimated net worth of $800 million, making him as the wealthiest driver to have ever raced in Formula One.
