'Warcraft' Movie Sequel 'On The Way And Doing Good,' Says Duncan Jones

Duncan Jones has confirmed that he is still hoping for a "Warcraft" movie sequel. The original movie has recently become the highest-grossing video game film of all time.

The "Warcraft" movie box office sales fell by 73 percent on its second weekend in the U.S. It only brought about $6.5 million.

However, in the international market, the movie brought in another $41.2 million. This has increased its global earnings to $377.6 million, with more than $200 million coming from China.

It was previously reported that the "Warcraft" movie's box office sales may determine the likelihood of a "Warcraft" movie sequel. Universal Pictures and Legendary Entertainment are said to be hoping that its success would result to an epic fantasy franchise in the future.

Eurogamer reported that people took to Twitter to congratulate Duncan Jones on the success of the film. Fans also asked the director about the possibility of a "Warcraft" movie sequel.

"Don't think we are quite there yet, but on the way, and doing good," Jones tweeted to one fan about the "Warcraft" movie sequel.

"I'm desperate to do Taurens," he said to another Twitter user. "We'll just have to wait and see if we get the chance."

Duncan Jones has revealed that the "Warcraft" movie sequel may focus on the Lich King. In an interview with Mtime, translated by the Man Made Movies blog, the director admitted that there's still a lot of story from "World of Warcraft" that can be adapted to film.

"Hopefully, if I have done my job right, people will want to know and see more," he said. "There is certainly plenty more to tell!"

The "Warcraft" movie has had a dismal performance in the U.S. box office. However, it continues to be a hit in China, where it scored $156 million in its first five days. The film's popularity in the region is to be expected since the "World of Warcraft" game has about 10 million registered players.
