The New York Knicks are slowly creeping their way up to the land a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. But there are still questions if the Knicks frontcourt is deep enough to challenge other top contending teams with more athletic and talented big men. Now, there are NBA trade rumors of the Knicks searching for a big and the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers are good shopping options.
According to the New York Post, the Knicks suffered heavy damage when they faced Minnesota's Karl-Anthony Towns and Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins. The Knicks won both games against the two teams but it wasn't an easy task stopping the two centers.
Towns dropped a career-high 47 points and 18 rebounds for his team in a 104-106 loss to the Knicks on Wednesday night while Cousins had 36 points and 12 rebounds in a 98-106 loss on Sunday against the Knicks as well.
The Knicks have a young and talented power forward in Kristaps Porzingis but they will have to rely on with their unhealthy Joakim Noah and unpredictable Kyle O'Quinn to stop talented centers in the league. NBA trade rumors have it that the franchise definitely needs more depth in its frontcourt and according to ESPN, the Bucks and 76ers are trying to shop Greg Monroe and Nerlens Noel respectively.
Monroe has been on the trading block and the Bucks are just waiting for the perfect deal. The Knicks may not have a lot of attractive key players to offer in return but if they could make it work, a Monroe and Porzingis tandem is a strong force to reckon with.
Noel is about to make a comeback since being sidelined for the past months but reports have it that he may be the odd man out when he returns to the Sixers lineup. Noel's contract is about to expire as well so the Knicks could get a young, athletic and defensive-minded center when he becomes a free agent.
These two centers are the best options for the Knicks if they want to secure a playoff spot. If these NBA trade rumors happen, it would make the Knicks a top contender in the East.
