The Italian version of televised Guinness World Records, the "Lo Show Dei Record" featured one of the newest milestone documented live. The female world champion of the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) named Lisa Dennis-Pitman has broken the newest record for the most number of tiles shattered using barehanded strikes.
Being a celebrity athlete in her own right, she was once famous for setting the record for the fastest time breaking 1000 roof tiles. Fortunately, as a special guest for the Italian television show, her latest performance has surpassed her previous record.
It took her, however, more than one minute to reach the 1000 tally. Yet until recently, no one among her global female peers has surpassed the 1000 broken tiles in 83.98 seconds during her demo in London, UK.
The Power Couple
Interestingly, the holder of Guinness World Records for the highest and fastest number of roof tiles using unarmed strikes is none other than Lisa's husband, Chris Pitman. According to the similar reports both published by the official Guinness World Records news page and the United Press International, Chris Pitman shattered 1000 roof tiles in approximately 51.08 seconds during his exhibition in London, UK.
It seems that contrary to popular belief, traditional martial arts discipline can still have some exciting features despite falling out of fashion. The 'power couple' from Britain have made themselves a good representative of ITF art worldwide.
The Way of Kicking and Punching
People practice Taekwondo for a lot of reasons, but a huge number of disciples usually do it for a holistic workout experience. Essentially, many individuals worldwide learn the arguably most efficient Oriental way of kicking and punching for self-defense and fitness.
As featured in a Jobs & Hire report earlier in 2016, one celebrity took a keen interest in Taekwondo as her fitness regimen. Olivia Munn lost 6 kilos of her total body weight through her Taekwondo cardio-strength training. No wonder she looked sexy yet lethal in her outfit portraying Psylocke in "X-Men: Apocalypse."
