Toni Kroos is set to move to Manchester United as indicated by recent reports, but his agent clarified that the midfielder will stay with Bayern Munich next season.
Volker Struth, Kroos' agent, insisted that rumors about their possible move to Old Trafford are plain speculations, insisting that the 24-year-old midfielder will stay in Germany at least until after next season.
"We are confronted with a variety of rumors for months but at the moment I believe that Toni plays in Bavaria until 2015 at least," Struth told Bild, via ESPN FC.
The Germany national team midfielder will be out of contract after next season, but Bayern Munich have yet to negotiate a contract extension, creating speculations that the club will make Kroos available in the next transfer window.
But Bayern Munich general manager Pep Guardiola, who led his club to a return trip to the Champions League semifinals with a win against Man United, insisted that Kroos will remain in Germany.
Club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also reiterated that Kroos will not move elsewhere this summer, saying that the team is planning to offer a long-term deal to the midfielder, who has two goals and four assists for Bayern Munich in the 2013-14 German Bundesliga.
"Toni Kroos will definitely still be playing for us next season," Rummenigge said. "Furthermore, we want him to carry on wearing our shirt beyond 2015."
But while Manchester United reportedly failed in their bid to acquire Kroos, Red Devils manager David Moyes is confident that the club will acquire Luke Shaw.
Southampton is reportedly in a deep financial hole, which could force them to part ways with the 18-year-old defender. Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested in Shaw, but Manchester United are reportedly the frontrunner in the race to acquire the England international.
"It emerged that a £27million hole in their finances is causing increasing concern among the St Mary's bosses," Daily Mail reported. "Moyes is optimistic that will enable him to see off interest from Chelsea and Liverpool for Shaw and snap up the England left-back for around £25million."
