The list of possible opponents of Manny Pacquiao in his next fight continues to grow as reports indicated that Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero is also being considered to face the Filipino boxing icon.
Pacquiao, who is coming off an impressive win in his rematch with Timothy Bradley to reclaim the WBO welterweight title, will fight again in November against a yet to be named opponent.
Guerrero, on the other hand, is looking to get back to his winning was after losing to Floyd Mayweather in May last year when he collides with Yoshihiro Kamegai on Saturday at the Stubhub Center in Carson, California.
When asked about a possible showdown with Pacquiao, Guerrero said that he won't hesitate to take it, saying that both of them could give a fight that will be a huge treat for boxing fans.
"Pacquiao. Pacquiao has a, I think, what, December? He has a date? If I could get that fight, that'd be great. I think the fans would love to see it, two lefties battling it out. Two punchers. We'll see what happens, but Kamegai's the focus for Saturday night, and I can't take my eye off that prize, because once you start losing sight, they creep up," Guerrero said.
The possible showdown between Pacquiao and Mayweather is now a possibility after Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank Promotions are now showing willingness to work together and arrange big fights.
Oscar De La Hoya's GBP promotes Guerrero's fights, while Pacquiao is under Bob Arum's Top Rank Promotions. The two boxing personalities reportedly met recently and talked about ending their longstanding cold war.
Aside from Pacquiao, the 31-year-old Guerrero is also not losing hope about a possible rematch with Mayweather, who scored a convincing unanimous decision win in their showdown last year, with all judges scoring the bout 117-111.
"If I take care of business I would of course like to fight Floyd Mayweather. Everyone would like that fight," Guerrero said via East Side Boxing. "I felt like I could give a lot more and I am excited to showcase everything that I have been doing to prove that I can hang with a fighter like Mayweather. Floyd is a pretty smart fighter but I can stay on my boxing game now, be a smarter fighter and walk guys down."
