Manny Pacquiao has yet to pick an opponent for his next fight on November 22 in Macau, but trainer Freddie Roach thinks that their next foe will be a familiar face to his prized fighter.
In an interview with Tha Boxing Voice, Roach said that he believes the fifth fight between Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez will eventually happen this year.
Marquez has been cold about the idea of facing Pacquiao again, and is reportedly asking for a huge $20 million guaranteed purse to accept the fight.
There are no ongoing negotiations about a fifth fight as indicated by Roach in previous reports, but the Hall of Fame trainer believes that the Mexican boxing icon will come to the table and express willingness to face Pacquiao.
"I think he'll come to the table sooner or later," Roach said of Marquez.
The 40-year-old Mexican has been on top of Pacquiao's list of possible opponents as the Filipino boxing icon is still aching to avenge his loss to his nemesis in their fourth showdown.
Marquez, who lost in two of his first three fights against Pacquiao, earned vindication in their fourth fight in December 2012, knocking Pacquiao out cold with vicious counter punch.
Marquez, who recently scored a unanimous decision win over Mike Alvarado, has turned down numerous offers to face Pacquiao again, but there are boxing analysts who believe that the fifth fight will happen.
The Mexico City native is aiming to win another world title to become a five-division world champion, and it seems like he has no other choice but to face Pacquiao, who is the current WBO welterweight champion.
Carl Froch Believes Marquez Will Win Again in Fifth Fight
Meanwhile, four-time super middleweight champion Carl Froch gave his take on the possible fifth showdown between Pacquiao and Marquez.
In an interview with On The Ropes Boxing Radio, Froch said that it will be a close fight to call, but he believes that Marquez will win again if a fifth showdown will happen.
"I think Marquez probably wins that fight, he's coming off the back of a great win and I've not seen Manny Pacquiao recently," Marquez said. "I know he beat Timothy Bradley. It's a close fight, it's unbelievable they've had so many fights together. They are both really great fighters."
