Timothy Bradley is looking for big-money fights after his upcoming showdown against Diego Gabriel Chaves on December 13 at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in Nevada.
Bradley said in an interview with Fighthype that he feels he still deserves a shot against the top fighters in the world today, reiterating that he is still interested in facing Floyd Mayweather Jr., who is considered as the best pound-for-pound boxer.
"My ultimate goal is being the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the game," Bradley said. "I want to get back my title, either at 147 or at 154. I want to fight the best, he's tough, he'll be another tough opponent, not of all of them, the toughest, but he'll be tough."
Bradley, the former World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title, is looking to bounce back after absorbing a lopsided unanimous decision loss to Manny Pacquiao in their rematch in April.
Once he wins against Chaves in December, Bradley feels that he should get big-money fights. Aside from Mayweather, the 31-year-old former champion is also eyeing a shot against Miguel Cotto, the reigning World Boxing Council middleweight champion.
Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is also on his radar, but Cotto reiterated that it is still up to Cotto and Canelo whether or not his proposed fight will happen despite his willingness to collide with them on top of the ring.
"It's never up to me, it's always up to them," Bradley said via On The Ropes Boxing Radio. "If it makes sense, let's do it. That's the way I approach it now and I think any of those fights can materialize sooner or later, with Canelo, Cotto and all these big names in boxing. I embrace any top guy out there, bring it on, let's do it."
But in order to face Cotto or Alvarez, Bradley will have to move up in weight. While there are doubts about how effective Bradley will be when he moves up in weight, but the California native insisted that he can still compete at a high level in higher weight divisions.
"I fought many years as an amateur at 152lb against guys that were 6′, 6'2, 5'11," Bradley said. "Big guys, like the Dirrell brothers, just to give you an example of how big those guys are and I fought them in the amateurs. I don't have any problem going up in weight to face them. They're about my size, I don't even think they're that big, they're just stocky."
