Finally, the giant robot "Voltron" will be coming to the big screen! Universal Pictures bagged the film franchise together with the $4 billion worth DreamWorks Animation. Netflix's "Voltron: Legendary Defender", David Hayter will pen the live-Action movie project which is one of the in-line program joints with the acquisition.
Originally, "Voltron" anime is about a five astronauts who found giant lion robots---incidentally, it forms a giant robot. The series was aired in US during 1984-1985, it became quite a sensation. Similarly, the plot idea is in line with the other incoming movies: 'Power Ranger' and 'Transformer'. The difference of "Voltron" will be the challenge Universal Pictures will face, they need to bring something new to the film.
The pop culture of robots in action isn't dead yet, "Voltron Live Action Movie" success can still be up in the air.
