Labor rights are human rights and those who violate these can be termed as labor rights violator. Amazon, one of the leading online stores worldwide is alleged to be a violator after imposing illegal rules with their truck delivery drivers.
Amazon has been long outsourcing their drivers and other workers to agencies. All the rules and terms of references are then consulted with both parties before the signing occurs. However, it seems like the Amazon is breaking what was written and signed after increasing the quota of drivers per day.
Drivers are expected to deliver 200 parcels a day, at the minimum. Some have been forced to break speed limits just to cut their travel time from one point to another, to be able to deliver more parcels per day.
In of the written documentaries of BBC, it stated how poor the condition was of the drivers of Amazon. As one driver told, there are times that they even defecate in bags because they got no time to go to toilet rooms. He also revealed that he has been working for 11 hours straight and receiving no additional incentives for overtime.
The Amazon has been facing a lot of labor rights violation to all its employees since last year. The administrator of Amazon was called to action after reports that their workers, who they call Amazonians, are crying into their desks after the longer time of duty and low compensation.
Amazon's chief spokesman continues to erase the disgrace brought by media on their company. "This is an incredibly compelling place to work," said Jay Carney in his interview on CBS This Morning.
The allegations against the leading online store in the world become more severe every year. Exploitation of workers has been one in the growing and most appealing issues. That is especially now that there are global circumstances to pose a significant impact on the said industry, Jobs & Hire reports.
