Lebron James just lost all his respect for New York Knicks president Phil Jackson with the latter using the word "posse" on James' associates during an ESPN interview. Now, Knicks Star Carmelo Anthony said that he would feel the same way about the whole incident ,being a long-time friend of James . Will this ignite the NBA rumors of Anthony leaving the Knicks and joining James in Cleveland?
In a report by the USA today, James told reporters during an interview on Tuesday morning that he doesn't respect Phil Jackson anymore. Jackson gave comments during an interview with ESPN about James getting special attention when he was playing with the Miami Heat and said, "You can't hold up the whole team because you and your mom and your posse want to spend and an extra night in Cleveland."
According to NBA.com, Anthony took James' side and told reporters, "I would never want to hear that word,". Anthony said that he understood James' reactions and why he was offended by Jackson's statements. He even added that anybody would know what the term meant and why it was offensive.
Anthony and James have known each other even before their NBA careers started. The two didn't just play against each other in high school but also played together in the USA Men's Olympic Basketball Team. In addition, their families even went on vacations during the offseason.
There have been NBA rumors before about Anthony joining the Cavaliers, and with these issues surrounding the two players, it appears that it could happen anytime soon. Anthony has spent most of his years with the Knicks and is still without a ring.
But Anthony commented on the issue that he doesn't think the whole James-Jackson incident would affect free agents and the Knicks in summer. Regardless, it is still safe to say that this could be a reason for Anthony to leave his team.
The league is definitely full of NBA rumors and anything is possible. If this incident would affect Anthony's decision, it would be a sight to see the best forwards in the league playing together.
