"John Wick" director Chad Stahelski has earned his place among the stellar action helmsmen such as the likes of Luc Besson, Ridley Scott and John Woo. While he is currently working his magic for "Deadpool 2", he is decked for a reboot of the legendary film franchise "Highlander".
It was recently announced that Lions Gate will produce the upcoming film. Borrowing from the famous line "there can be only one", the producers have christened Stahelski as their chosen one. He will be responsible for turning this 90's epic cult classic into a hard-hitting action flick replete with battle scenes that are fit only for the world's mightiest immortals.
In an article published by the Movie Web, it is revealed that Chad Stahelski was one of the many high school fans that made "Highlander" a sensational fantasy film of the decade. In fact, the director himself expressed his open admiration for the modern mythology of immortality - and the elements of love and individuality that goes with it.
Curiously, however, Chad Stahelski was not the initial pick for directorship when it was first prematurely announced in 2008. According to a related report featured in Coming Soon, the earlier candidate was Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, the man behind "The Huntsmen: Winter's War." In fact, this publication even named Tom Cruise as one of the key side characters to accompany the eponymous Highlander protagonist.
Until then, not much is revealed regarding the cast and the storyline. Fans can only guess whether the reboot portrays the story of the Scottish swordsman from Clan Macleod or create an original character from scratch.
As for Chad Stahelski, he is currently pushing the boundaries of what he can do for the action genre. Based on an article published by Jobs & Hire, one of his solo projects includes an original action masterpiece that unites Asia's three most spectacular martial arts superstars.
